Fall: the season for boots, scarves, layering and the September Vogue issue! Now that Labor Day is over and Fall is officially starting, it's time to break out your favorite boots, tights, sweater dresses and, my personal favorite, leather jackets! Trends to look forward to this fall are furs, lots of glitter (channelling Cardi B in her YSL outfit for the VMA's), wide belts, a modern take on Western style like a fun pair of steel-toed boots, pantsuits and lots of reds! Below are the trends I'm looking forward to this fall from various retailers!

One of my favorite trends this season is velvet! I think it's a super fun addition to everyones closet and isn't just a style to wear during the holidays! What I love about velvet is how a simple addition of a velvet piece to your outfit will immediately make the look dressy. I picked 3 velvet pieces I liked for this upcoming season like the Misguided dress, the Steve Madden heel and the Revolve cami. The dress is a fun going-out look and, if you don't want a velvet dress to look so holiday-esque, you can always try a lighter color like a blush or even a golden color. The Steve Madden heels are a super fun addition to your closet you definitely need this season! Although the shoe itself is a simple design, the fabric makes them a statement piece for any look! Finally, the Revolve tank is an easy piece to add into your closet that works perfectly for fall and can carry over into your winter wardrobe as well! Pair it with a leather skirt, a pair of dark or distressed jeans or fitted slacks for a chic and trendy look these upcoming seasons!

The floral print this fall is another one of my favorite trends for the season because it's a vintage vibe with a modern take. The floral pattern is a closet essential that can easily be dressed up or dressed down. For example, the Topshop corset top I selected from their website can be worn with a pair of fitted distressed jeans and a pair of sneakers or a pair of booties but can also be worn with a black skirt or high-rise black jeans, a wide belt and a pair of fun heels (maybe even some velvet heels). The Free People dress from Revolve is another fun addition you need in your closet this fall and would look great paired with an oversized jean jacket or a leather  moto jacket!  Finally, the floral jumpsuit from Nasty Gal is a fun dressy look that is an easy piece to add to your closet since it doesn't require much thought when it comes to figuring out what to pair it with. It can be worn with a pair of nude heels, wedges, or even booties as pictured.

gingham / PLAID

Saving the best for last, my favorite trend this season is Gingham! Although it could look like a picnic blanket, I think that if you pick the gingham pattern on the right piece of clothing, it's a fun pattern to incorporate into your closet. The first Gingham piece i chose is a top from Revolve that i LOVE. It's the plaid pattern that is common everywhere but it has a fun flared sleeve look and some ruching in the front which accentuates your waist. A top like this is a fun casual look that works for the fall with the long sleeves which makes it cute and practical! The second piece I chose was a red gingham dress from Revolve that I love! What I've noticed with the gingham tops and dresses with a style like the one pictured is it photographs funny and can look unflattering in some shots but I like to wear my top like this off the shoulder because off the shoulder tops and dresses are flattering on everyone! The final gingham piece I chose was this gingham skirt from Bloomingdales that I love! It is a dressier piece in my opinion but is definitely an essential for the fall. It would look great with a moto leather jacket, an oversized jean jacket, a black bandeau top or nearly any other neutral top you can think of!  The pattern is also flattering on a pair of pants and can be worn with an off the shoulder jean jacket like how WeWoreWhat (Danielle Bernstein) wore her jacket by only buttoning the bottom 2-3 buttons and wearing the rest off the shoulder!
